Spice up your life!
First came the love of the ginger bread man and then came the love of Gerri Halliwell as ginger spice. Now days, health fanatics all over the world have fallen in love with ginger for the health benefits it has to offer. As it improves your blood circulation and warms up your body from the inside out, gingers warming nature makes it the ideal winter food. Whether you’re using it in your smoothies; having it as a tea or even including it in your cooking, ginger will help to improve your health and your bodily functions in one way or another. Here are some of the very many reasons why you should include ginger into your diet:
Ginger is known to have numerous healing properties, causing it to become one of the most used spices in herbal medicine. Ginger itself, has been proven to ease the symptoms of menstrual cramps, arthritis as well as muscle and joint pain due to the anti-inflammatory compound it contains, called gingerols. Not only that, it can help to improve digestion and boost appetite along with improving the body’s absorption of nutrients. Lets face it, who doesn’t want to get more nutrients out of their food? If that hasn’t won you over, this amazing spice will treat nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, morning sickness, motion sickness and colic as it strengthens the stomachs lining. Convinced yet?
These days, we are all busy and constantly on the go. With not enough hours in the day to get everything done, getting sick is just something we simply cannot afford to deal with. Although, every winter, we all face the hardships of being run down with the flu or suffering from nasty sinuses, ginger is proven to be a preventive. With a cup of hot ginger tea, this little problem can be avoided as the tea will allow sinuses to be cleared, headaches to be soothed and throat and nose congestions to be eliminated. Not only that, ginger will boost the immune system just as effectively as what garlic can with out leaving the strong after smell that garlic is infamous for.
This wonder spice can be ingested as fresh or dried produce, powder, tea, capsule, oil, and even juice, making it easy to add to just about any food or drink. One of my personal favorites is adding it to my post work out juice. With a blend of pineapple, apple, mint and of course ginger, my body is well on its way to recovery as it reaps in the health benefits offered on hand. You can add it to soups, meat dishes, raw desert recipes, tea, cold pressed juices and smoothies, just to name a few.
Grab yourself some fresh ginger root in the produce section of your local supermarket or as a powdered spice from the herbs and spices aisle. Store it in a dry dark place to keep it fresher for longer and get creative with it. Not only is it jam packed with health benefits, it also tastes great too!
